As much as the driver of the mini bus is at fault, i just cant understand the truck drivers reaction. 'I didnt have to' is his answer to why he didnt brake? Whut?

both at fault in my opinion.

we will probably never know what was (or wasn’t) going through the truck drivers mind.

Because accelerating back up to speed is such a total pig of a chore and he feels entitled because he’s in the bigger vehicle. Yes, it’s the other guys fault for pulling in infront, doesn’t make you any better of saying “not my problem” when you obviously see and react to it..

While I agree, the truck driver “should” have taken action, the way the bus was wandering around his lane the driver likely didn’t realize the bus was actually coming over until it was too late.

Given the way the bus was wandering in it’s lane, he may not have realized it was actually coming over until it was too late.

“people don’t allow enough time to get past the vehicle”
This is a generalized statement, talking about more than just the bus driver involved in this incident. Not sure how the rest of the conversation leading up to this quote went, but o utside of whatever context this was spoken in, I get the sense that he’s exasperated at the multitudes of drivers who do this shit. Maybe he’s tried to hit the brakes for people in the past, and has now reached a point where he just doesn’t care anymore. If someone wants to try it, he’s got a dashcam and is willing to let the consequences of their own stupidity roll.

Seeing things like this is good. Perhaps we can take a lesson from it. Would it really have been that big an inconvenience to slow a bit to let the bus move over, considering the subsequent crash and loss of life. In the US, personal injury lawyers would be all over this case and that driver would not be getting off scot-free.
